About The BeBox Zone
Purpose
The BeBox Zone aims to provide relevant information to BeBox owners, users and
enthusiasts. It is also intended to create an online 'meeting point' for BeBox
owners/users/enthusiasts to interact with other BeBox owners/users/enthusiasts.
The BeBox Zone is fast becoming the authoritative source of BeBox related
information.
History
The BeBox Zone is a non-profit site developed and maintained by Andrew Lampert
in Sydney, Australia.
If you have anything to contribute to the site (information, pictures,
suggestions for improvement, cash/hardware donations :-) etc.), or would like
to ask a BeBox related question, you can contact me via email at: webmaster at bebox dot nu
I first played with BeOS as Preview Release 1 (PR1) on my Power Macintosh. From
there, I was hooked. After much searching, I eventually managed to locate a
BeBox for sale in Australia.
After purchasing my BeBox in 1998, I
discovered that there wasn't really a place on the web which focused on
providing information for BeBox owners and users. Be was steadily decreasing
the amount of information available on their site, and most of the other BeOS
community sites gave the BeBox only a passing mention.
To fill this gap in the collection of Be and BeOS related websites, I decided
to create the BeBox Zone. The domain name 'bebox.nu' was registered in July
1999, and a place holder page appeared soon after, announcing the imminent
arrival of 'The BeBox Zone'.
Version 2 of The BeBox Zone was released during 2001, and in August 2001, the
BeBox Forums were launched.
Version 3 of The BeBox Zone was released in May 2003, and involved a complete
rewrite of both the content and the structure of the site. A huge amount
of new content was added.
The Future
The BeBox Zone is regularly updated with new information and services.
