A Hobbit Be Computer is up for auction at eBay. Unfortunately, the starting bid is (US)$2000, which seems quite steep to me.
Admittedly though, you'll be hard pressed to find another one (including this hobbit, there are now 4 listed in the BeBox Registry).
Cheers,

Well, no one bid on the Hobbit, so it's evidently not worth $2000 to anyone. Much as I want one, I can't say I could justify spending $2000 on one!

Wow! This Hobbit is back up for auction on eBay! A pretty unique opportunity to purchase one!
Details are:
| Quote: | | Be Computer prototype. serial number 9308000039. never sold to the public. dual AT&T h0bbit processors. hard disk is dead. i'll include a cd with images of the restore floppies. very rare. sold as-is due to age, no warranty. no international bidders. buyer pays shipping. payment must be received within 7 days after auction close. payment by paypal or money order |
Seller is in Fort Worth, Texas, United States.
Starting price is (US)$500, which is a quarter of the price it passed in for a couple of years ago.
Anyone here thinking of bidding? I would *love* to know where it ends up.
Cheers,
Andrew |

Sold for US $1,118 to ebay user vintagemicros. If you search through these forums, you'll see he's bought at least 2 or 3 other (non-Hobbit) BeBoxen over the years. I'd imagine he's got a pretty good collection by now!
I know a few of you have dealt with him through eBay. Does anyone have contact details for him? I think his real name is John. Is that right?
Thanks,
Andrew |
